RAVEN OR FOWL PLAY ARM HITS THE SAFETY PIN

If so you most likely blew the fuse. The fuse is located in-line inside of a black, plastic, fuse holder that is about 1 ½ inches long. The holder unscrews from the middle. It is a glass tubetyle 5x20mm fuse. The Raven requires a 15 amp fuse. the Fowl Play requires a 10 amp fuse. If you are unable to located a fuse locally, please email heidi@doalloutdoors.com

CLAY TARGETS ARE GETTING HUNG UP ON THE SLIDE TRAY WHILE DROPPING ONTO THE THROWING ARM.

There are a few things you can do to correct for the clay bird hang-up issue, you are experiencing. Both solutions require you to first turn the trap thrower to disarm and remove the primary spring. If the area of interference is minor you can simply file down the spot that the birds get hung up on. This method is best used is the area of interference is small (around 1/8th of an inch).
If the area of interference is greater than directed above, you have the option to adjust the entire mechanism. The cam on the Auto Trap is just above the arm and it is a flat piece of metal shaped like a kidney. To adjust this you will need to locate the Phillips head screw that runs down through this cam. In the cam there is a slotted adjustment so that you can adjust how much the tray opens up and how much pressure the plunger cap puts on the
clay. Once you locate the Phillips head screw, loosen it. If you want the slide plate to open more and more tension to be put on the clay, push the cam counter-clockwise so the head of the bolt moves to the left side of the slot. If performed correctly, this action should solve your issues with the slide tray on your auto trap.

RECOMMENDED BATTERY NEEDED TO RUN AN AUTOMATIC TRAP THROWER.

The recommended battery size for our trap throwers is a 12 Volt Deep Cycle marine battery with a 675 Cold Crank. All of our automatic trap throwers require 16 Amps (an additional 5 amps if you use the wobbler). Feel free to let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

MANUAL TRAP THROWER WILL NOT LAUNCH A CLAY WITHOUT MANUAL INTERFERENCE, AFTER TRIGGER IS PULLED.

Your machine is malfunctioning due to a slight kink in the “Silver Swivel Hook”, located at the top of the main spring, where the spring physically connects to the trap head. To correct for this issue, you will need to make a slight physical adjustment on this part. Please take measures to straighten out the bar of the swivel hook, as best as you can, to a position where the spring will connect to a straight bar, rather than a curved point.

If you prefer to order a replacement swivel hook, please do so, by calling 1-800-252-9247 and speaking with a parts representative.

AUTOMATIC TRAP IS MOVING SLOWLY AND STOPPING AT THE 9:00 POSITION.

The cause of this issue may be in the wiring components of the trap or in clutch and bearing system of the thrower. To test your thrower and ensure we diagnose the issue properly, put the switch to disarm and remove the main spring. Once complete, manually move the trap arm in a counter-clockwise direction. (There should be little to no resistance). Now attempt to move the arm in a clockwise direction. (There should be heavy resistance. Do not force the arm in this direction). If your thrower works as it should, we can determine your wire harness as being the cause of the problem. Conversely, if your trap thrower operates differently than noted above (locking up in the counter-clockwise direction or moving freely in the clockwise direction) we can determine your trap thrower’s clutch to have failed. If this is the case, please call the 1-800-252-9247 to discuss your warranty and replacement options with a technical representative.

AUTOMATIC TRAP IS BREAKING CLAYS UPON RELEASING THE THROWING ARM; DUE TO A GAP BETWEEN THE CLAY BIRD AND THE RUBBER STRIP ON THE THROWING ARM.

To close the gap between your trap thrower’s rubber strip and the clay bird as it sits on the throwing arm/tray you will have a make a slight adjustment to your trap thrower’s limit switch. To begin the troubleshooting process; you will first need to move the machine to disarm and remove the spring. Once complete, locate the limit switch on the front of the machine. The limit switch is a small metal bar with a plastic roller. You will want to take a pair of needle-nose pliers make a small bend in the bar as close to the roller as possible, away from the on/off switch (towards the front of the trap). This is a very small adjustment and may take some fine tuning to get the trap thrower to operate properly.

AUTOMATIC TRAP IS AUTO-FIRING/CONTINUALLY CYCLING AND THROWING MULTIPLE CLAYS UPON ACTIVATING THE MACHINE.

To prevent your trap thrower from auto-firing/continually cycling and throwing multiple clays upon activating the machine you will have a make a slight adjustment to your trap thrower’s limit switch. To begin the troubleshooting process; you will first need to move the machine to disarm and remove the spring. Once complete, locate the limit switch on the front of the machine. The limit switch is a small metal bar with a plastic roller. You will want to take a pair of needle-nose pliers make a small bend in the bar as close to the roller as possible, toward the on/off switch (towards the back of the trap). This is a very small adjustment and may take some fine tuning to get the trap thrower to operate properly.

RAVEN AUTO TRAP IS AUTO FIRING AFTER PUSHING PEDAL.

It would seem your trap is in need of a minor limit switch adjustment. To make this adjustment please first put the trap in the release setting and insert the safety pin. Once safe; prop the trap with the front edge of the trap slightly in the air to access the underside of the trap. You will see a small black box secured to the trap with an allen screw. Simply loosen the screws and rotate the entire limit switch towards the back of the trap (towards the on/off switch on the trap) slightly and re-tighten the assembly. This should allow the trap to stop at the cocked position every time and resolve your issue. Please feel free to contact our customer service line with any additional questions or concerns.

THE ALUMINUM HOUSING, ATTACHED TO THE MOTOR AND HOLDING THE WORM GEAR, IS BROKEN.

With a broken housing and/or worm gear on your auto-trap’s motor unit you will need to purchase (or warranty) a replacement motor unit. Please contact the parts department at 1-800-252-9247 to speak with a representative and place your order.

FOOT PEDAL IS NOT FIRING THE TRAP CONSISTENTLY.

To test your trap thrower and ensure the foot switch is the issue at hand, please take the following action:
Put the trap thrower in the cocked position and unplug the foot switch from thrower and expose the plugin insert. Now take a paperclip and bend it into a “U” shape. Insert the paperclip ends into the plug socket and pull it out. This will fire the trap thrower. Do this, three times or four times to ensure the thrower is operating properly. If your thrower operates through this method we can determine the cause of your issue to be isolated in the foot pedal unit. Conversely, if your thrower will not fire consistently under these conditions, we will operate under the assumption that the unit relay system is bad. To order a new relay or foot switch please call 1-800-252-9247 and speak with a parts representative.

ARM OF AUTOMATIC TRAP THROWER IS ROTATING SLOWLY.

CLAY BIRDS ARE THROWING SHORT AND/OR AT SHARP ANGLES.

If your trap thrower is launching clay birds at extreme short distances, or at very sharp angles there may be an issue with your leg mount brackets in the base of your trap. Please inspect each leg housing bracket on your trap throwers’ base to look for cracks in the welds. If you find your baseplate leg housing brackets to be in need of replacement we would be happy to help you place an order for a replacement part. BLACK PLUNGER ASSEMBLY IS PREVENTING CLAYS FROM DROPPING ONTO THE THROWING ARM/THROWING TRAY PROPERLY.

If you are experiencing an issue with the trap thrower not releasing the clay birds completely from the black plunger assembly we can determine you have excessive tension on your plunger assembly, as it makes contact with the clay birds in the stack. To correct this issue, please first put the machine into the disarm position and remove the spring. Once complete, follow the black plunger assembly back to the screw, which holds the entire mechanism together. You can unscrew and disassemble the unit to remove the black spring. From this point simply snip one of the coils from the spring and reassemble. This should take some of the pressure off of the plunger and allow the clay to fall properly. You may need to cut an additional coil, as needed, but please do not cut more than three.

SLIDE TRAY IS NOT ACTIVATING WHEN ARM IS CYCLING.

If your slide tray is not moving when the trap thrower is activated, we can diagnose your issue as being related to your thrower’s feeder cam not making contact with the roller bearing. To verify this issue, please put the trap in disarm and remove the main spring. Once you have the trap in a safe state, rotate the arm in a counter clockwise direction; pay close attention to the feeder cam (under the slide tray) to see if it is making contact with the roller bearing (under the plunger assembly). Once you determine which part needs replacement, please call 1-800-252-9247 and speak with a technical representative.

AUTO WOBBLER IS NOT OPERATING; STALLING AND/OR NO POWER RUNNING THROUGH THE UNIT.

The issue with your auto wobbler is being caused by a bad component in your wobbler’s wire harness. To correct this issue you will need to purchase a new wire harness for your wobbler kit. To ensure we are getting you the correct version of wire harness, we will need you to remove the on/off switch plate and tell us if there is a green circuit board behind the switch or a piece of black vented plastic. Once the style of wobbler is verified please call
1-800-252-9247 and speak with a parts representative to place your order.
